EVENTS
Events has been an interest of mine for quite a while but it was never something I thought of pursuing. However, being on the broad course at University I was given the opportunity to be able to explore this industry through different modules I had selected. It taught me all the different and important aspects needed to make an event successful; helping me further improve on my team work skills but also a lot of interpersonal skills. This module gave me the opportunity to put this into practice when creating a Mini Food Festival event, raising money for Action Against Hunger.

Events: About
MERCEDES-BENZ RETAIL AWARDS 2019
I worked as part of the Dokuso team to put together the Mercedes-Benz Retail Awards in January 2020. Dokuso Events is a new, small event design studio based in Manchester. Their aim being in "curating original experiences and memorable moments".

Each year they work closely with Mercedes-Benz and other event production companies such as Sparq Events, to organise, create and design their annual event. This year the event held place at Mercedes-Benz World in Brookland, Surrey.
Some of my roles and responsibilities whilst working this event included setting up the main venue, liaising with the venue on event days to ensure everything ran smoothly, organising rider packages for VIP guests and checking in and escorting guests between venues. It was quite stressful as every aspect had to be perfect due to working with such a prestigious brand like Mercedes, but also to ensure they would still want to use Dokuso's services next year.
Although I didn't see the whole process of organising the event - only the event weekend itself - it has helped me develop on time management, organisational, communication and problem solving skills. All of these skills being useful to take into work.

This opportunity has furthered my interest in Events and I aim to gain more experience perhaps with different roles in this industry to expand my media skillset.
